In three career Winston Cup races at Las Vegas, Gordon has posted just one top ten finish. Last year the DuPont team missed the setup and finished a lap off the pace in 28th position. He has added incentive to test at the track this year. Along with Labonte, Dale Earnhardt, Joe Nemechek, and Kenny Wallace, Gordon is eligible for the No Bull Five million dollar bonus should he win the event. The five eligible drivers were the top five finishers from the most recent No Bull Five race last October at Talladega. It will be the second consecutive year that Las Vegas has played host to a No Bull Five event. Jeff Burton raced to a rain-shortened victory last year and claimed the $1 million bonus.
The speedway's grandstand will be open free of charge to fans during the test session which will
run from January 29-February 2. Though drivers will not be on the track all five days, the list
of drivers scheduled to test are a virtual who's who of NASCAR Winston Cup stars.
Las Vegas was built upon the premise that the casino can draw a crowd. Nearly all of the raceteams realize
that they can't afford not to test in the desert.
