A New Pair Of Sunglasses

(April 4, 2001)- - Jeff Gordon has signed a multi-year endorsement and licensing agreement with FosterGrant, a well-known manufacturer of sunglasses. As part of the deal, Gordon will be featured in the latest series of the company's "Who's That Behind Those FosterGrants?" ad campaign, scheduled to break in the spring of 2002. The company will also create a line of FosterGrant sunglasses to be endorsed by Gordon, as well as a collection of sunglasses featuring Gordon's #24 and the DuPont car colors.

Products will be supported at thousands of major retailers with point-of-purchase displays and consumer sweepstakes, which will award winners a chance to attend NASCAR races. "Jeff's position as one of NASCAR's biggest stars combined with FosterGrant's brand heritage and product expertise will allow us to reach millions of customers. In addition, Jeff brings a winning attitude to the brand that is very powerful," John Agre, Executive Director for FosterGrant, said in a written statement.

"FosterGrant's position in the marketplace will allow us to reach NASCAR fans with great looking, high quality sunglasses at the right price," Gordon said. "It's also an honor to be included in the same category as some of the other legendary spokespeople who have also been a part of this memorable campaign."

The FosterGrant brand became synonymous with sunglasses in the 1960s with the launch of the "Who's that behind those FosterGrants?" advertising campaign. Recently named as one of the top 100 advertising campaigns of all time by Ad Age, the campaign featured top celebrities of the time, including Sophia Loren, Anthony Quinn, Raquel Welch, and Woody Allen. The current campaign was re-launched in 1998 featuring supermodel Cindy Crawford.
