NEW YORK, N.Y. (December 4)- - Jeff Gordon's week in
New York City leading up to the awards banquet included
a book signing as well as multiple TV appearances.
Gordon began December 2 with an appearance on "The Today Show" on NBC. Later that day he
signed copies of "Racing Back To The Front- My Memoir" at
Borders near Wall St. On Wednesday,
he appeared on "Live with Regis and
Kelly" as part of a five-day special featuring NASCAR drivers in the kitchen. Between
banter with Regis Philbin, he attempted to cook up "fast lane lasagna." A different
driver will be featured each day on "Live
with Regis and Kelly" during the week of the awards banquet. Monday's guest was 2003 Winston Cup champion Matt Kenseth,
Jimmie Johnson stopped by on Tuesday, Gordon was the kitchen guest on Wednesday, Tony Stewart
will appear on Thursday, and Kevin Harvick stops by on Friday to share his culinary
expertise. Later on Wednesday, Gordon taped an episode of "Centerstage" with Michael Kay
for a future airing on the Yes Network. At Friday night's awards banquet, Gordon
accepted honors for his fourth place points finish along with a sizable check for over $1 million.
