Jeff Gordon accumulated 5455 points under the "traditional" points structure during the 2007 season. It was the sixth time in his career
that he led the series in total points for the season. He also set a modern-era record with 30 top-10 finishes
in 36 races. However, the 'chase for the championship' format put the championship
in another driver's possession. To acknowledge and reward Gordon's efforts this season, a donation
drive benefiting The
Jeff Gordon Foundation was held in December and January. The foundation benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Make-A-Wish
Foundation, Riley Hospital for Children, The Marrow Foundation in partnership with Hendrick Marrow Program and the
Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, North Carolina.
To acknowledge Gordon's 5455 points, 30 top-ten finishes, and 6th time he scored the most points in a full season,
checks/money orders made payable to "The Jeff Gordon Foundation" were collected.
Raffle items included dirt track and NASCAR magazines, books, never before seen pictures of Jeff on and off the
track, and other media featuring Jeff Gordon.
To make this affordable for everyone, raffle tickets start at $6. Savings are incurred with additional tickets purchased.
For example, a $54.55 donation (in honor of Jeff's total season points) will earn 14 raffle tickets. There are four donation
levels to choose from, thus making it affordable for nearly everyone who visits the website.
