This was the season that the NASCAR world saw their next great driver. Dale Earnhardt was going for his eighth title when the year began. However, the year would not belong to the Man in Black; it would belong to the Rainbow Warriors. After marrying Brooke in November 1994, Jeff and his new bride headed to Daytona for the first race of the 1995 season. Jeff was running strong in the event when he came in for a routine pit stop. The car fell off of the jack and damaged the sheet metal on the left front resulting in a finish off the pace. The following week at Rockingham, the team came back with a vengence. Jeff dominated the Goodwrench 400 en route to the win. That set the tone for the year. The wins came fast and often. Jeff finally completed a race at Bristol; and it was a victory in April 1995. He won all three segments of the Winston Select all star race in May. However, a wheel problem eliminated him from the Coke 600 in late May; it would be his final DNF of the year. Showing a championship determination, Jeff won the Pepsi 400 at Daytona to take the points lead. Through the summer, a string of top 10 finishes catapulted Jeff to a 300 point lead over Dale Earnhardt. With wins at Darlington and Dover, the rest of the season looked like a breeze. However, engine trouble at Rockingham and Charlotte made the title race a little closer. Nevertheless, Jeff clinched the Winston Cup title early in the final race at Atlanta. It was a season to remember; truly, a magical year.
